Carrie Owen Plietz, CEO at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, On The Move. We Will Miss You!

After 16 years at Sutter Health and five years of serving as CEO of Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, Carrie Owen Plietz is leaving her position to become Marietta, GA – based WellStar Health System's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the hospital division. During her time at Sutter Health, Ms. Plietz oversaw Sutter's acute care EHR implementation, completed and opened an $800M campus consolidation and expansion project, spearheaded many patient experience initiatives, and lead the medical center to continuously earn national recognition as a 100 Top Hospital and one of nation's Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics.

Due to her outstanding leadership, Ms. Plietz was named one of Modern Healthcare's Up & Comers and a five time "Rising Star" by Becker's Hospital Review. In 2010 she was honored as the Robert S. Hudgens Young Health Care Executive of the Year by the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Ms. Plietz holds a master's degree in health administration and completed a fellowship in health law at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
